Aims and objectives of the Lissim Pain Foundation
The Lissim Pain Foundation exists to help alleviate the suffering of people living with pain by teaching people how to help themselves and others using the unique Lissim touch technique developed by Margaret Donaldson in Edinburgh.
The activities of the Lissim Pain Foundation include:
- promoting teaching of the Lissim self-help technique to individuals and small groups
- training Lissim teachers and maintaining a high standard of training and practice
- providing continuing professional development for Lissim teachers
- providing learning support, information resources and a forum for exchange of information and experience to teachers, trainees and users of Lissim
- researching and developing Lissim further so as to continuously improve the service provided to pain sufferers
- liaising with other organizations and institutions to further the aims set out above.

Any profits made by the Lissim Pain Foundation through the provision of Lissim training and services are used to serve people suffering from pain and those committed to helping them, e.g. by
- enhancing the provision of learning and information resources for Lissim teachers, trainees and users, including continuing professional development opportunities for Lissim teachers
- facilitating the attendance of Lissim teachers at relevant conferences and seminars for the purpose of expanding or sharing the expertise of the Lissim community
- conducting research and development activities
- assisting with training / teaching of Lissim for those on a low income
- raising awareness of Lissim via promotional / marketing activities.
The Lissim Pain Foundation is a social enterprise, and is in the process of applying for registration as a Community Interest Company (CIC).
